Setup: Settings

Overview of the most important settings in Mendato: company data, email sending, dunning notices, integrations, users and more.

Written by Philipp Geimer

After signing in to Mendato, it's important to configure a few basic settings to be able to use the software fully. Here are the most important steps:

  1. Enter company data:

    • Go to Settings > Company Data and enter all the relevant information about your company. This data is required for the correct display on invoices, quotes and other documents.

    • In the same area you can also set your company's language and currency (see the section Company language and currency further below).

  2. SMTP data for email sending (optional, if already available):

    • Under Settings > Email Sending you can store the SMTP data to enable email sending directly from Mendato. This way, invoices, quotes and other documents can be sent by email straight from the system.

Other Settings

In addition to company data and SMTP settings, Mendato offers many more options under Settings:

  • Account: Profile details, password and language of the Mendato interface for your user account (see the section Language for your user account).

  • Subscription: Overview and management of your subscription, billing address and payment methods.

  • Company Data: Storing basic company information as well as company language and currency.

  • Documents: Customizing templates and documents used in customer communication.

  • Templates: Creating and editing templates for invoices, quotes and other documents.

  • Email Sending: Storing the SMTP data for sending emails directly from Mendato.

  • Dunning: Configuring dunning levels, dunning fees and texts.

  • Integrations: Connections to other systems such as DATEV or external interfaces. You can also create API keys here to connect external systems via the Mendato API.

  • Users & Roles: Managing user accounts and their permissions.

  • Imports: Importing data, e.g. via the timesheet importer.

  • Exports: Exporting data for accounting or other software.

Company Language and Currency

Under Settings > Company Data you'll find the section Language & Currency. There you can adjust two company-wide settings:

  • Company language: Controls the language in which documents such as invoices, quotes and service receipts are created for your customers. Available languages include German, English, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Czech, Danish, Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian.

  • Company currency: Sets the currency in which amounts are shown on documents and in accounting. In addition to EUR and CHF, options include GBP, PLN, CZK, DKK, NOK, SEK, HUF, RON, BGN and ISK.

Both settings are saved immediately after selection — no additional click on Save is needed.

Note: The company language is independent of the language in which you use Mendato yourself. You set that under Settings > Account (see the next section).

Language for Your User Account

Every user can set the language of the Mendato interface themselves — independently of the company language.

Where?Settings > Account

  1. Select the language you want in the Language field.

  2. The interface is shown immediately in the selected language.

Currently available: German, English, Dutch, French, Spanish and Italian.

Note: This setting applies only to you. Other users in your company can choose a different language without affecting you or the language of your documents.
